work on a project at the Hanford Site that has a unique history. This
Internship Journey provides professional development opportunities for
college students in a number of disciplines including engineering,

Safety, and many other fields. Challenging work experiences are

The Hanford Project is located in southeastern Washington State along
the scenic Columbia River. The nearby communities are known as the
Tri-Cities and consist of the cities of Richland, Kennewick, and
Pasco. Three rivers and nearby mountain ranges provide unlimited
sporting and recreational activities. There are more than 100 parks,
nine golf courses, and over 32 miles of paved biking/hiking paths in
the area. It is an easy place to live and a challenging place to work.
About Washington River Protection Solutions
Washington River Protection Solutions is a prime contractor to the
Department of Energy Office of River Protection and has the
responsibility for storing and retrieving for treatment approximately
53 million gallons of highly radioactive and hazardous waste stored in
177 underground tanks. The goal is to characterize the waste and
deliver it to the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) to vitrify into a
glasslike substance for permanent disposal. We are also developing and
implementing supplemental technologies that can be used to treat the
remaining low-activity waste that is not treated by the WTP.
WRPS promotes equal employment opportunities. Maintaining a workforce
that represents cultural diversity is a core strategic objective at WRPS. A
diverse workforce makes us stronger, healthier, and better able to
handle the challenges of the future. WRPS fosters a work environment
where employees recognize, appreciate, respect, and value winning
contributions of all people, regardless of their differences. We
provide equal opportunities to all participants based upon their
training, performance, experience and overall qualifications.
Students interested in an internship must complete the
